1.Plan: This section is dedicated to the proposition that the planning is almost as much fun as the trip itself! Here you will find practical tips for organizing an itinerary brimming with the best photo ops. If you don't arrange a priority seating (reservation) for Cinderella's Royal Table, your daughter will not be having breakfast with the Disney princesses (and you will not be taking photographs of her in Cinderella's gorgeous medieval hall in the castle). Likewise, you're not likely to get "reaction shots" of your family and friends discovering the talking water fountains at Epcot if you don't know ahead of time that there are talking water fountains at Epcot! (Even seasoned WDW visitors may learn something new -- and you'll enjoy savoring the expectation of your next trip even more with this book in hand.) The planning section will help you prepare in little ways (make sure your child wears his Pooh shirt on the day you'll be heading to Fantasyland) and in big ways (with a planaholic's panoptic packing prospectus)!
2. Snap: The photography section is full of tips to help you capture the best moments of your vacation once you've arrived in Florida. The four Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom) are broken down attraction by attraction -- with ideas about getting the most effective shots at each one. (For instance, sit on the Emporium side of Main Street USA in order to avoid sun glare on your lens during the afternoon parade.) Where does Disney hide its pixie dust? This section will show you -- down a well with a rope just waiting to be pulled, on a pair of special carousel horses, in a hidden key under a Muppet's mat, and at the other end of an old-fashioned telephone in a Main Street USA store. And of course, most of the Disney magic is in plain sight -- on the faces of your family and friends as they marvel at Wishes or taste a Beverly for the first time!
3. Scrap: Given what you pay for a trip to Walt Disney World, you can't afford not to savor the memories of the experience by "scrapping" your photos and memorabilia into beautiful scrapbook pages! The fruits of all your careful planning and photography can now be brought together and preserved so that you and your family will always remember even the littlest sparks of Disney magic. You can "scrap" the whole Disney experience, from the planning phase (photo of mom or dad sitting at a table littered with brochures, phone to ear, on hold with Disney Central Reservations) to the trip home (your little one curled up on a bunk on the Autotrain or playing Gameboy on the flight). The scrapbooking section includes tips and techniques on:
- cropping, matting, and presenting photos
- journaling your adventures -- be sure to include Disney secrets and Very Cool Things which will keep your reader's attention -- the Scrapbooker's Guide will provide a Disney secrets inventory for your convenience! (And we've got some never-before-revealed Disney World secrets!)
- navigating the vast array of scrapbooking materials you are likely to find at your local craft store
There will be a section of sample scrapbook pages embellished with a light touch. Especial encouragement is given to beginners and to those with "scrapbooker's block." (Many of us can confess to a packet of scrapbooking materials we haven't touched since we got home from the craft store months ago ... or even years!)
